News from Clunes
What an incredible start to 2021 it has been at Clunes after the disruptions of last year. Although we were glad to offer a condensed Clunes experience to every Year 9 student in 2020, nothing quite compares to our full program of experiential learning opportunities in the stunning and historic surrounds of Victoria’s Goldfields region. It’s thrilling for us to welcome each new group onto campus as we return to ‘business as usual’.
Perhaps the biggest news of the year at Clunes has been breaking ground on the most significant building and renewal program at Clunes since the program’s inception in the late 1990s.
An additional two student houses, a demonstration kitchen, four purpose-built learning studios and new storage facilities are due for completion late 2021. This project, a key component of Clunes, The Next Chapter (our strategic roadmap), will transform learning opportunities for our Year 9 students and open a realm of new possibilities for future programs at Clunes.
In another change, we farewell Ben Marsland, who is leaving Wesley after 23 years with the College and five years as Head of Clunes. Ben will take up the role of Deputy Principal at Scotch Oakburn College in Launceston, Tasmania. Dan Lukies will be our new Head of Clunes from Term 2. Dan brings considerable leadership experience and has been a valued member of the Clunes Leadership Team for the past two years. We thank Ben for his magnificent leadership at Clunes and wish him the very best for his exciting new role in Launceston.
