After leaving Wesley College, David studied Science at Monash University. He worked for Ormonde Fitzpatrick as a Patent Attorney for 40 years, becoming a partner in 1993. David continued to work for Ormonde Fitzpatrick right up to his retirement due to illness. He had also worked overseas for a short while in the late 1980s for ICI in England.

David had many recreational activities and loved being at the family holiday home in Phillip Island. Many of David’s activities involved the outdoors and he loved bike riding, walking, swimming and skiing. An avid sportsman, David was an active member of Metropolitan Golf Club and even took up playing for Camberwell Hockey Club when his boys started playing there. Continuing the tradition of being actively involved in the interests of his children, David started a parent's water polo team with Melbourne Collegians Water Polo Club where two of his boys also played.

‘Tage’ as he was fondly known, was a very good footballer, playing for Collegians Football Club in the 80s and 90s. Later in his career, he wanted to give back to the club, so he captained and coached the Thirds side at Collegians. This was typical of Tage who always had the club at heart, doing whatever was needed at the time.

Tage will be fondly remembered by everyone who knew him and knew the sort of person he was. Taken from us far too early, the brave fight he put up battling his illness was typical of the person David was.

Our thoughts are with his family - wife Lisa and children Ben, Jamie, Lachie and Billy.
