Colin followed his father, Colin (OW1937) to Wesley College. The family lived for some years in Sydney and Colin was brought up on rugby. He caused quite a stir when he started playing Aussie Rules Football in the Junior School.

Colin was a strong and muscular lad for his age. He was well known for grabbing the ball, placing it under his arm and running toward goal. When the umpire blew his whistle and penalised him for holding the ball, he got quite annoyed.

Colin was never a house captain, dux, prefect, form captain or similar. He was a challenge to his teachers, not too interested in disciplined learning and was his own man. He trained as a mechanic at Stillwell Ford and was then conscripted for two years, becoming a Tank Commander. This was followed by various stints in the auto business, including about five years with Morley Ford, a well-known Melbourne institution run by his father. His first business was in Mornington, followed by owning and running Riverina Ford in Finley.

Colin married Carol and became the proud father of Steven and Leanne, and the grandfather of six. After many years and a marriage break-up, he married Pam and set up Morley Ford in Echuca. This business became an institution in the area and his son Steven ran it with him. When he retired two years ago, Steven took over as manager. The knock-about kid became a respected citizen, successful family man and sustained business success.

His Wesley background gave him the confidence and discipline to succeed in life, but he never lost his sense of humour, sense of the ridiculous and his warm heart. It also taught him about supporting his community, family and friends.
