Congratulations to the irrepressible Alanna Smith (OW2014) on becoming the latest Australian draftee to the WNBA. Hot off leading the Stanford Cardinal’s to an Elite Eight appearance in the Women’s NCAA tournament, the popular power forward was chosen at pick 8 by the Phoenix Mercury. Alanna is only the 4th player in NCAA Division 1 history to tally 1,600 points, 200 blocks, and 150 threes in their career and was a member of Australia’s FIBA World Cup silver medal winning team last year.
