Welcome return of the ELPP

Johnson Zheng (OW2021) with Glen Waverley Head of Campus, Sheriden Vella

Last month, the English Language Preparation Program (ELPP), Wesley’s in-house intensive English program available to students in Years 7 to 10, resumed after the hiatus caused by international border closures. This program at Glen Waverley provides intensive English classes tailored to prepare students for mainstream study at Wesley.

Susan Mu (OW2005), Head of ELPP, completed her senior years at the Glen Waverley Campus where her leadership skills developed and she was International Student Prefect. She enjoys watching her students move from initially being quiet and shy to becoming confident and thriving in the College environment.

Isabelle Wang (OW2020) started her Wesley studies in ELPP. She had a good work ethic and believes that ELPP helped her transition well to mainstream classes in a different country. Isabelle found that the Wesley teaching styles were very different and her classes were challenging and interesting. There were more opportunities to learn art, play summer and winter sport, study music and perform in different concerts. Now Isabelle is working hard studying a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Actuarial Studies.

Johnson Zheng (OW2021) achieved an ATAR of 99.95 and has just started undergraduate study at Penn State University, USA. With the help of the ELPP teachers, he was able to quickly adjust to an Australian learning environment and found that the Australian style of studying gave him freedom. His favourite part of Wesley was the extra cocurricular life at school, especially practising his badminton and basketball skills after school at training and on Saturday matches. He was involved with the Publications, International Relations and Debating clubs and was Captain of the Boys First Badminton team. Johnson said Wesley provided him with an amazing environment to live, learn and develop his abilities.
