Training for all teams began in small groups last November and continued right through to the end of March. This year, we have welcomed many new players and look forward to seeing them pull on the Purple and Gold jumper.  New players are still most welcome at any stage of the year!

Collegians is also pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Rivers as the new coach of the Senior Men’s team and Jordan McKenzie as the new coach of  the Under 19 Men’s team. Both Jared  and Jordan bring a wealth of AFL experience to the club.

In November, the Club appointed  Emma Carney (OW1989) as its Partnership and Social Media Manager. Emma is a multiple World Triathlon Champion, and Sport Australia Hall of Fame athlete. Being a sponsored athlete all her adult life, Emma brings her lifelong experience to Collegians regarding sports sponsorship, media and partnership relations.

The Collegians Football Club is constantly striving to remain as one of the leading clubs in the Premier Division of the VAFA. Over the last decade our Mens senior team has competed in seven final series, four grand finals and won two premierships. Our Womens teams are foundation members of the VAFA and enter their fifth year of competition.

The club is extremely thankful to the OWCA and the wider Wesley College community for its continued strong support. We would like to acknowledge our major partners who are crucial to our success:

  • East Malvern Community Bank (Peter Norman OW1949),
  • Jefferson Automotive Group (Brett Jefferson OW1988),
  • Total Facility Maintenance (Brad Woolhouse OW1988),
  • Tellurian Wines (Daniel Hopkins OW1990),
  • Simonds Homes (Rhett Simonds OW2002) and
  • Bastion Collective (Fergus Watts OW2003).

With over 2,000 people on our database and a large membership, including an active Coterie group, we would love to see you at a game or two supporting the Lions in 2021.

To be placed on our database or for further information regarding partnership opportunities and memberships, contact either  Emma Carney (OW1989) at info@collegiansfc.com.au or the Co-President, Mark Hibbins (OW1978) on 0409 406 442.

Alan Mitchell Club

The lockdowns in Melbourne have presented challenges for many people to keep their levels of fitness up, as well as increasing social isolation. As part of the Wesley alumni community, the Alan Mitchell Rowing Club has responded to these challenges by lowering the barriers to getting started again. Any former school rowers who wish to join the club for social or competitive rowing will have a flat annual fee of $120 (covering boat use, insurance and Rowing Victoria accreditation) for the first three years after leaving Wesley.

The Club welcomes both social and competitive rowers, and can help individual rowers who join to be placed in a crew. If you are interested in having a row, or thinking about joining, please email the club President, Ana McCloskey at ana.mccloskey@gmail.com
